Assignments are given on day 1 when you show up (they're on your name tag.) Rental cars provided and you share with 1 other person in Indoc. All meals expensed on company card. Type rating in either STL, DFW, or MCO. The guys I know that went through recently went straight from DFW to their type rating course but said a couple people in their class had up to a week off where they went home before going to type rating, but that was the exception not the rule. Company says on Zoom Indoc to prepare to be gone for a month. Said fleet assignments were divided up pretty evenly among their classes.

Thats it exactly. Pre-pandemic the first 2 days Indoc was meant to be held at Cleveland HQ then back to DFW for remainder.

Indoc question

Anyone able to answer question about the first two days of indoctrination - is it a zoom type meeting or self-paced learning?
Thanks much.

Information is about 6 months old but I think the format is till the same.

Yep, it is zoom based. There isn't too much "learning" that goes on. It focuses more on setting up your devices, or at least your phone if you do not have the iPad yet. You will go into detail on the company, some of the apps that are used and what to expect in training and beyond. Also use the opportunity to meet the other people in your class and put names to faces before you meet in Dallas for more continued training.

You will have breaks about every hour, and will also have a nice long lunch break.

Good luck!

Indoc

Hey, thanks for the information. That sounds better than endless clicking through power poison slides.

How are aircraft assignments decided? Based on previous experience? Flipping a coin? Throwing darts?

It's random. I have seen guys already typed on one of the planes not get it, guys over 6ft get the phenom, ex-regional guys not get the Challenger, you name it. We asked them how they assigned fleet and they also said it was random. I doubt it actually is "random", and they just don't want to disclose why they do it.

Have there been any new hires over 6 ft not put in the Phenom? Or does Flex try to stay pretty strict in that regard? Thanks!

It’s “random”. Your height will not determine if you do or do not get the Phenom.
