Default FAA Theory

Hello my friends,
I'm from EU and I would like to know if it's possible to work on my FAA Theory (PPL, IR CPL and ME) and take the test in Europe to be ready to fly directy when I will be in the US?
Thanks

No problem studying, you can do that on your own if you're technically inclined. You need to take the tests from an authorized test location, I'm sure the FAA has a few in Europe, you'll just have to find out where they are.

I really like Sheppardair.com for my test prep, it will only help you ace the test though, it will not help you learn the material, like reading a book would.

FAA publishes a list of Airman Knowledge Testing Centers.

Commercial Testing Center List

Besides the 50, there's one in Guam, one in Puerto Rico, and one in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Why would the FAA have a testing center outside of the U.S. or its territories?

You may also consider the Certified Ground Instructor (CGI) completely through knowledge exams. FOI, IGI and AGI exams. No oral or practical involved but unsure about application process for foreign applicants.

I enjoy the Gleim books: https://www.gleim.com/aviation/product_catalog.php

Pretty sure you used to be able to take tests either on or near certain overseas military bases at least.

The foreign term for knowledge tests.

Ramstein, Yokota, Mindenhall, Al Udeid and Aviano offer the writtens but you would need base access.
