I was thinking about going to ATL and I figured the same thing as you did $400 a month. I'll check out prairie air service. Thanks guys, any more advice is greatly appreciated.

I live in Podunk Kentucky and it isn't that the prices are so outrageous everything is just so inefficient. It would take me twice as long and I would have to travel to different fbos to get certain things done ie multi instrument. Their multi is only vfr. They have a 150 and not a 172. That and I just need to get away from everything I normally do so I'm not distracted.

Take the time to visit ATP and PAS. The money you spend on the visits will be well invested. At least then you can make a sound decision on where to go.

IMHO, there is no point in dragging out your training. Get it done ASAP and within your budget not ATPs, PASs, or your local FBO.

Time is like money - you need to invest it wisely. Get it done (training) and move on to the next step...

I know that this is my decision, and everyone is going to have a different opinion, but I am really struggling to determine where to finish my training up. I have my commercial, and I am pretty sure that I want to go to ATP to get ME, CFI/I, and MEI because of the relationship that ATP has with so many regionals. I know that I could probably do all of this cheaper at a local FBO, but I'm concerned that I won't have the kind of opportunity that I will as an ATP grad. What do you think? Maybe I'm a sucker, but it seems like it's a real possibility that I could be sitting right seat somewhere in a matter of months after completing their program.

Anyway, I'm sorry that I'm probably looking like an idiot because this has been discussed before, but I can't search the forums yet, and I've gone through enough pages manually to drive someone crazy.

Thanks,
Ben

This is not true for my local FBO.

What you pay at ATP is worth it. I went through summer of 2005, the price was cheaper than, but you get with the price a fleet of aircraft which no FBO can offer. I would highly recommend ATL if you are going for the 90 day program. Stay out of JAX, I never liked that location, city is nice though. When you have a maintnence issue, ATP is either going to get it fixed at the location with their own mx, contract mx, or send in another aircraft. The relationship they have with airlines works out great. I instructed for them for about 16 months, met alot of military, major, regional, and Part 135 pilots all who were willing to write letters of recommendation for me. ATP also helped me get a regional job because of their relationship with the airlines. ATP is not perfect, but they get they get the job done and in the time they say. All you need to do is be serious about the work you do there. They basically provide everything except a headset, sheets, and clothes. ATP is definately worth it.
