If you can find a good FBO near you, you can get the best of both worlds. It's what I did. I did my private through commercial multi at my FBO in Long Beach. I then did my instructor ratings at ATP, also in LB. They hired me on and I was able to get quite a bit of multi time as an instructor there. They also helped me get hired on with an airline once I had accumulated some good flight time.

Cool. There is a plethora of places to train in your area, to include ATP in Riverside. VNY is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the US with many training options. Whiteman (KWHP) is closest to you. There are a few members and a CFI at www.jetcareers.com there work at the FBO there.

Yeah Whiteman is where i did my original training and Vny only has those diamond twins that i have seen but there might be more.
