Flight School choices
Hi,
I am currently looking for a airline pilot program that will get me the licensing and experience I need to become a airline pilot. I have been looking at some of the academy programs that take someone with zero to 1500 hours to be ready for the airline careers. I have been looking at the ATP flight program that has mixed reviews from many people. I know some are to good too be true but there has to be some that have a good reputation with the students and staff. I currently live in Utah where they have a few programs specific for SkyWest Airlines that gives someone the zero to airline experience. I would be open to move for the right program. I am wondering what programs others have went through for training and their experience and what recommendations you would have. Thanks for reading and responding.

I have some money saved up but will need to get a loan out for the rest of the amount. I have already looked into different programs and I am aware of prices. I am looking for quality of a program and not to be pushed along. For quality, price is no issue.

Personally, I would find a local school that is active. Pay as you go. Get your PPL, find someone else who is IFR rated, but isn't to 250, and you two can log time under the hood for half price. You'll learn and you'll both get time for half price. Only 15 hours of your instrument training has to be with an instructor. The main deal is that you have to have 50 hours of PIC CC to get your instrument, so when you two are out flying, you have to do the take offs and landings to get the CC time. ATP and other schools are pretty expensive, and if you are proactive about your training, you can save a good bit of money. Have a game plan. Get the book work knocked out early in each stage. If you are wanting to get it done quickly, being close to the airport is important. Having to drive an hour each way makes running out to the airport to fly for an hour in the middle of the week a real PITA.
