Just a quick search for the Bus, I found:

http://www.premair.com/html/a320.shtml (quote around $11,500)

For Boeing products Alteon seems OK.

http://www.alteontraining.com/index.shtml 737 type around $7,000

One thing to watch out for with airlines that offer type training is that many only offer facilities leases. In other words they contract to a flight school to provide training, thus middle man that adds cost to your training.

Just like anything, shop around. If you have experience on the jet, getting the type should be a no-brainer so I'd shop by price. If on the other hand you had zero jet experience, you may want to shop by course content.

I'll keep looking for info on the BUS, and if anyone has good gouge for [type] contract training, please post it here. This would make a good resource section on the web site.

Thanks

You may check into Pan Am International Flight Academy in Minneapolis as well. They should be able to give you a rate on an A-320 type very close to that of Premair.

It's not related to the A320, but I know that Pan Am International Flight Academy in Washington Dulles has a reduced price CRJ type rating short course for people that have flown the aircraft within the past 24 months.

It was designed for First Officers that had experience in type and were getting furloughed, but wanted to get the type rating. $5,000 for one week of ground school/CPT, 5 sims and a checkride.

If you are interested in the details, PM me. ~Josh

PAIFA will also offer a "short" course at a reduced rate for the A-320 if you have time in type. I believe you need to have 500 hours in type within the previous X number of months, but don't quote me on that.

Speedbird,

I am the chief pilot for US Airways Contract Training. We offer A320, A330 initial type ratings, recurrent training, and circle restriction removal as well as E170/190 training. All training is done in house...ground school is conducted by our mainline instructors and simulator training by me and my staff of highly qualified retired US Airways pilots. We use the US Airways flight simulators, two of which are just completing certification by the FAA...brand new. Training is conducted at our training center in Charlotte, NC where we have three A320, two A330 and one E170 simulators. Our prices are very competitive and the level of training is second to none.

You can contact our department at 800-308-2770, or 704-359-2770. Also feel free to contact me at [email protected].
