yeah, not surprised. Still, one needs to keep an eye on the prize.

For so many of these questions, individuality comes into play. Where one pilot finds lemons, the next makes lemonade.

Not my business why you want to supplement anything but you’re retired military and 121.
I’d reconsider and not kill myself in a small airplane if I were you.
Look at ground instructor positions.
