Logging Multi

Default Logging Multi

I currently have 200 hours TT, 20 MUlti. I'm working on my CMEL. A friend of mine just bought a CitationJet 3 (part 91 operations), who is also an MEI told me he would like to take me on several over night trips next year when he takes delivery of the airplane. He said he likes to have an extra set of hands. Would it be legit for him to log that in my logbook and call it training?

It is my understanding that you would be able to log that time as dual instruction received.

Dual only, because for you to log any PIC you'd need the type-rating, high-performance, and high-altitude endorsements also(If you can, see if he can sign off on the high-alt, looks good and has some practical use)

Oh yeah, this is a great opportunity, so don't blow it!

Potential Danger here...

Is the guy typed for single pilot? If so, he can take you along and give you dual.

If he is only typed for dual-pilot ops then an SIC is required, and YOU require additional training before serving as SIC on the aircraft. This is specified in part 91, and is not too hard (or expensive) but still needs to be done and logged.

Note: It's OK to log several of your first flights in an aircraft as dual-received, that's legit training. But DO NOT fly 100 trips with this guy over the next year and log it ALL is dual. The FAA does not allow this, log the first 2-4 flights as dual, then after that you should be the SIC.

You should be able to, but read the requirements for the hi-alt and make sure you log the flight correctly...I think it may have to be done at or above FL250?
