I will be attending the University of Dubuque in the fall to major in Flight Operations and Aviation Mangement. What some help advice and ways to help build flight time while not running to *far* into debt.

Don't drink too much. No really college can be a lot of fun. I didn't do my undergraduate work on campus, but professional school was a heck of a lot of fun. Get involved...and get involved in things OTHER than aviation. Believe it or not, there are other things in life besides airplanes. I'm not too keen on the aviation major myself, but make sure your well rounded in other things too. History and english may not seem important now, and although they are things you may not ever use directly...your grades may oneday help. Get to know people...networking is a big part of the aviation industry. Never burn your bridges and keep your ego down to earth. How does that saying go..."The toes you step on today could be connected to the ass your kissing tomorrow." You will never know it all as a pilot, and although many think they do...they don't. Always keep the attitude that once a student, always a student. You are always learning, and always striving to learn new and better ways of doing things.
As for debt, really try to get scholarships and grants. There are many of them out there. Fill out the FAFSA early, and make sure you do it before the deadlines for your state. Try to save up whatever you can and not take out private loans...loans aren't much fun, especially when your paying back a lot of money, on a low starting salary.
Time building...you could look into the civil air patrol, help a private pilot out by flying as safety pilot, and if you know anyone with an airplane see if you can't get to be buddy buddy with them. Most aviation schools have flight teams, you could check into that. Once you have your commercial, you'll be open to a heck of a lot more opportunities.
Most importantly, have fun. These are four of the most important, and fun years of your life...choose wisely and make smart decisions. You know what your main goal is...to graduate and become a pilot, but if you spend 99% of time in your room studying, you'll burn yourself out...and end up hating your college experience. Go out and have fun...stay out of trouble...and fly safe.
