Default 737 Type Rating school/sim recommendation

3000+ hour military heavy pilot but have not flown in 4 years. I’d like to get a 737 type rating when taking the ATP practical.

Looking for a school that has very high pass rate where you had a good experience. Understand it will be a big lift remembering regulations while learning a new plane so want a school where you feel like would help stack the deck in my favor.

I used Crew Pilot Training. They rent sims all over the country so they probably have a course convenient for you. The primary instructor was a reserve C17 guy and the DPE was an old KC10 guy who had flown for World before it folded, if I recall correctly. The training was solid and, while you will need to put the effort in, should not be to tough to pass. Contact info below:

Consider 1 Step Prep in FLL, smaller school but solid folks and great instructors

2 cents for PAX side

also, "everybody but SW" has the Airbus 320 in the fleet, except also Alaska (soon)

"typed in the bus" seems to be slightly more prestigious than "he has a 73 type." dont ask me why just the general feel I get.

you might consider the Airbus type and that would bring Spirit, JetBlue, Frontier, into the mix for those automated resume-puller computers

again, my 2 cents

I don’t know about prestige, but for the OP I would prioritize cost and timeliness. I doubt getting your ATP in either of these airframes (737/A320) will matter more than simply getting it done. I did mine in the 73 because it was cheaper and available sooner. Never even finished an application at an airline that flew them. The airline that did hire me asked if Southwest was my first choice, I said no, the 73 was the easiest way to knock out my ATP.

A type rating does not guaranty a CJO. Even if typed and one gets the job does not guaranty passing the company specific check ride. Completing the ATC-CTP will provide better footing for the CJO than not
