If you get your cfi, do you also need the AGI or IGI to teach ground, or would that be covered with the cfi rating. Im just curious because im about to take the cfi writtens. Thanks

If you have the $$$, I'd suggest taking the applicable/corresponding ground instructor writtens when you do your CFI writtens. It's essentially a "free" rating (except for the cost of the test), and the test is pretty much identical to the one you're taking for each CFI certificate. All you need to do is take the results to the FSDO and get a nice new temporary certificate!

Ground Instructor certs are meaningless in the professional flying world. The only practical use for them that I have ever seen was to allow non-pilots or pre-CFI's to teach ground schools. If you have a CFI cert, don't ever let it lapse...you never know when it might come in handy. Besides, I always learn something from those refresher courses.
