PAIN CALL

P - Current position in relation to the airport (situational awareness)
A - ATIS
I - Instruments (DG/Altimeter set)
N - Navigation (frequencies/CDI radial/Identify)

C - Communications (Approach/Tower/ect.)
A - Approach briefing (Altitudes, Inbound course, Missed Approach)
L - Landing Checklist (GUMPS)
L - Listen for Approach Clearence

Easy to remember and never failed me...

Depends on the approach and WX..... VFR to a RW you have landed on 100 times. For real.... I usually just say Visual and back it up with an ILS and of course Don't F%^& UP !

Bad WX or Check Ride... Whole speal... Whos flying, what RW, Brief entire APP to include GA from plate and what will mostly be a REAL go around instruction, raw data monitor etc. Terrain consideration and Lastly which direction to turn off the RW if we survive the landing!

I always put the MDA/DA and missed approach instructions in my short-term memory. While in the initial and intermediate segments, you can double-check the altitudes you need. On that final segment though, memorize the altitude you are going to, and what to do if you don't see the runway.
