As far as I know actual "fire spotting" jobs are going away. Now, if you are looking for other fire fighting types of flying jobs then you are going to have to troll the internet.

Various companies come and go. They all bid for contracts over the winter and hire pilots to fly them in the early spring. Due to the current economical conditions they most likely will be looking for high time pilots.

Fire Pilot jobs require a very hands on self reliant type of individual. You travel from fire to fire with very little support. There is no ground crew. No mechanics. Few co-workers. Having an A&P is a huge plus.
