Another good point to add to that; at my school we teach our students when they are identifying the dead foot, to smack they dead leg. As in "mixtures, props, throttle full fwd, flaps up gear up, identify dead foot, left foot (smack), verify close throttle, feather, mixture to cutoff, declare an emergency"But by now i'm sure you know that, I was just using that as an example when the exaimer or instructor fails your engine.

Ah, thats why they all walk with a limp. Thanks LucasM, I always wondered about that. What happens if you smack the examiner? Can you just use his/her leg, if your's hurts?
