I did FTI in DEN last year. They do a great job and are VA approved as well. As far as inside track, SWA does not care where you get the type rating. Once you get it, your app is in the same stack as the guys from HPA and K&S. Don't get me wrong...both are excellent programs and do have the advantage of having SWA contacts.

Anyone get a type from Higher Power for less then 7380.00? I was wondering if they ever run specials. WIA has offered to pay 5000 toward a type as long as I pay the difference. Of course being on unemployment I'm trying to spend as little as possible.

Default any 2011 quotes?

any current quotes out there on places to get the B737 type? this is from a recent call to FTI in Vegas:

LAS (Pan Am)
737-600/700/800BBJ Type Rating Accelerated
$9,270/student
8 Hr Ground Instruction
32 Hr Computer Based Home Study
40 Hr Home Study with Manuals
24 Hr Full Motion Simulator
4.0 Hr Simulator Checkride
Set of Training Manuals
Approximately 8 Days

737-600/700/800BBJ Type Rating Full-Length
$10,859/student
40 Hr Home Study
40 Hr Ground Instruction
24 Hr Full Motion Simulator
4.0 Hr Simulator Checkride
Set of Training Manuals
Approximately 12 Days

$9,270 seems like a steep increase over $4,995(just a few years ago)

any other current info(and/or recommendations) out there?

Try K&S in PHX. I think it was $5500 when I did it (but that was back in 2007). And this was a 200 sim...therefore cheaper.

Thread back from the dead ...

A large disparity in prices between schools is sometimes due to one using a 200 sim. for the type. You can save a lot of money going this route - it's the same rating, of course - but if and when you ever do a sim. eval. for an NG operator you'll be a bit behind the power curve unless you have a lot of glass experience in other aircraft. Choose carefully; the extra expense may be money well spent.

Ah...good point, 200 vs. NG sim. Anyone else have current price quotes?

You'll have to call ...

Higher Power Aviation | Inherit a jet crew experience. Inherit the industry.

Type Ratings, Boeing 737, A320, Flight Attendant, Dispatcher, ATC Training | Pan Am Academy | The Leader In Aviation Training

are the two I've dealt with.

I got mine from Higher power over a year ago. I was a bit rusty, and a bit under experienced, but I wanted to do it anyway. I was pretty satisfied. If you're interested, here is the inside of their facilities. They were talking about getting some more sims, and changing stuff around. I don't know if they ever did.

They have only information. No sign of prices.
