Hillsboro Aviation?

I live 2 miles away from the airport and I LOVE this place. But if the pay is what they say it is I would stay away. There is a reason that they have had openings for the past 14 months. It would be some of the most valuable experience you could gain as an instructor. Flying in the PACNW is challenging. And expect a lot of bad weather days soon.

I have two friends that work at Hillsboro right now. One says he works 12hr days, in a very congested airspace (for maneuvers/traffic, near MAC's everyday), and is still supported by his parents. Why? because the pay is ****ty. You would think a grown man with a respectful job should be able to support himself...not in this business.

Don't you love rumors. I currently work at Hillsboro. The pay is based off your dual given until you get to 750 Dual given, then its based off your total time. I started at 17.50 an hour. Pay starts at 16/hr for fixed wing CFI's with zero dual given. There is no training contract or agreement. And as far as 12 hour days go, thats pretty hard to do when you are only allowed to fly 8. Hillsboro only expects you to be available 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. I worked as a CFI/CFII/MEI at another smaller flight school for the last year and i can tell everyone here the Hillsboro Aviation is an outstanding company that takes very good care of their CFI's. IF any of you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

Duncan no worries. OVerall i love it. Sstaff is all very friendly and helpful. They have a really good time here. I've hear rumors of company gold tournaments, ski/snowboard trips and various holiday parties. As far as student load goes you can be s busy as you want to be. There are constantly new students coming in and other students who will fly with anyone to get done ASAP. You only get one day off, and to my knowledge you jsut pick it. But if you arn't schedule to fly 48 hours in advance you can take that time off also. There are some part time people here but i don't know too much about them. As far as benifits go i believe that the Folks on salary get benies and i'm heard rumors that if you are here for more than a year you get pretty good health benifits.
