I had the same situation. I tried to take the ATP written before I turned 21 because I started applying for airlines when I was twenty and wanted to spice up the resume a little with the ATP written. I studyed and preped for it, went to the testing center, paid for ther test, and the test never showed up. We called and they said it would not come because I was not 21. I could not find anywhere in the regs where it said I have to be 21 to take the written. So I called the FISDO office and asked them. The were B***s**it at CATS. They told me that I can take the written no problem. So I called CATS they still said no. So I called the Feds again and they said they would look into it and called me back and told me to look under

61.35(a)(2)(iii) Date of birth of applicant must show that he or she will meet the age requirment for the certificate before the expiration of the knowledge test.

ctd57:

Is ATP planning on opening a campus at the Naples Airport? My reason for asking is that I know that their are some airport properties that are available for lease and I always seem to see the Citation VII (I think ) parked on the tarmac or on departure.

Not that I have heard. They already have 6 locations in Florida and have the state pretty much covered. ATP has a Citation 501 and a 525. You have most likely seen the 525. It is the newest one and the 501 doesn't fly much. They go there alot with the students who are flying it. I don't know why they go there so much.

MSRVPilot, that's crazy, the only airline that I know with a CRJ that has an 18 year old minimum is Horizon. Do you have your college degree? Don't tell me your working on it.

Thank you! and NO i have no college and still have a job with a regional airline flying on the CRJ at 20. Dont go making assumptions until you know the facts thank you for your input.

FAR's say you must be 21, MINIMUM. If you are at an airline, at that age, take it! It will not expire if you stay at your airline job, however if you go and do something else, it will expire after the 24 months! Good Luck!

The reason they go there all the time is that a girlfriend of one of the owners that lives in Naples... When I did my jet ride we had to go down and pick her up and bring her back to Jacksonville for the weekend... Gotta love being a personal air taxi that YOU are paying for... One of the wives might like going to naples to shop, but thats not what MOST of the rides are for... haha

Hi, I completed my ATP at 22. But it didn't become active until my 23rd Birthday. So you may want to check into that. that was in 1992, I don't know if the rules were different then or not.
