Default Knowledge test result

Took knowledge test for instrument ratining. I walked out of the flight school with test result but without the seal. I just didn't pay enough attention, so please don't ask why. Took the checkride, nobody noticed that seal was missing, but owner wants original with seal to sign me off with my new instrument rating.I told him I never received it with the seal, but I guess they don't believe me. How can I get a copy? Do I follow what the FAR says and request it from the FAA. Do they have a record, since it was never mailed to them in the first place?

Sounds as good enough as being lost. I would just call the FSDO and request a copy of your test results so they can "Facsimile" (honestly, who uses that as opposed to Fax?) the results to your or mail them. If its time critical, you can go to a mail box store or something that can receive faxes and give the FAA that number.

Wouldn't sweat it!

This is the right way to do it. I called the local FSDO and they don't hace access to the knowledge test results. Thank you for the information.

Why do you need a new instrument rating if you already passed your checkride?

But for checkride purposes, any written exam has to have to embossed seal on it. Unless the examiner uses IACRA and even then I would still make sure to have the written just in case something gets screwed up.

You will have to call up Oklahoma City and talk to the nice lady Jo who is in charge of replacing lost Airmen written exams. They have your exam on file from when you took it at CATS or Lasergrade testing center, and they will print it out again and stamp it. You will have to send out there a FedEx or UPS envelope with paid return shipping. The processing fee is $2 also.

That is what I did LucasM. The processing fee is $1. I took the check ride and nobody noticed the seal was missing. After completing the check ride, the owner of the school noticed the seal was missing.

Oh yeah I knew it was something like $1-2. So the owner of the school doesn't believe that you actually took the exam and won't let you fly the airplane under IFR?

Well now I'm flying VFR. He says he needs the original with the seal to send to the FAA for my rating. So it has to be either the original or a copy from the FAA. I actually have copies of the report, but the school won't put a seal on it. They say it is against regulations to put a seal in a copy. I can't complaint; I was the one who walk out of there without the seal...

OKC has a copy of it. FSDO's have nothing to do with this area.

Yes I know. I found out after calling the FSDO, but they were nice and told me what to do. Thanks for the info.
