Noob question: Turboprops = turbine time?
#1
This might be the most noob question in weeks.
Does flying turboprops count as turbine time?
if so, will airlines not have any sort of issue? kind of like in-line thrust not counting as ME time.

Yes, it absolutely counts...especially in the US.
Be aware that airlines will sometimes require time in aircraft of a certain weight class...like 25,000lbs. I have seen that one come and go since 9/11.
121 crew time is more valuable than say single-pilot night freight if you are trying to get hired by a major.
Also be aware that most majors say they will accept "single-engine turbine time" But in reality this means F-16 or AV-8B time...this does NOT mean they will actually hire someone with a lot of day/VFR time in a caravan. If you are planning on getting competetive for a major with 'Van time, think again.

Be aware though that turbo prop time is turbine time, turbo prop time is not jet time.
The only place that turbine vs. jet time will come back to bite you is if you apply overseas. A large amount of airlines over seas REQUIRE JET TIME. And will not accept turbine time in lieu.
UAE is one example.
