Default Sunstate Aviation at KISM

Hi guys, I'm trying to collect info on Sunstate aviation Located at Kissimmee as it will be probably my choice to convert my ICAO license to FAA, would be great to hear pros and cons of any of you doing courses, hour building etc...

Have done my homework in pprune and some other forums, seems to be a nice place to achieve flight training, seems bit expensive but i'm up to pay a little more to avoid (hopefully) any hassle...

I couldn't find info on this Forum, and being an American Forum im quite interested in what i can find from you guys.

Thanks !!

Why not go to Crystal Aero Group in Crystal River, FL...A lot cheaper and the man has been in business 30 years! This is a 141 school and what people do not realize is this guy does not want a student going past 40 hours for his private or over the hours for any other rating.. He wants students to finish in the time allotted for the training. We get so many students from other schools with 60-70 hours and no license. You need to be careful, a lot of these schools are depending on your for survival so they will milk you for everything you have.

if price doesn't mater then go, but there are far cheaper places to get the same results.

Sunstate is a great place to obtain flight training. No question about it. Great fleet. Great Instructors.

However, everyone that was at Sunstate when I was there spent more time and money for their rating(s) and training than they had planned or was quoted on the website.

We all went to dinner on several occasions and the students indicated the training cost 2-3 times the original amount.

That is one of the problems in this business. If a school finishes you up fast then the school makes less money. (not good for the school--but good for the student)

If they can "keep you on the hook" and keep dangling the "license" in front of you then they are able to charge you more money for plane rental and instructor time.

Remember most students will not be able to finish in the FAA minimum times required to take the checkride. This is true at any flight school.
