No due to the fact I had 30 hours previously and my local flight school shutdown and things came up which allowed me not to finish my private.
I presume you're at the Daytona Campus? I would've been starting my second year myself, at ERAU Prescott, except that I am transfering to a State university to save money.

Riddle hate, hate, HATES it when students have ANY flight experience outside Riddle. I knew people who already had some flight experience, but it essentially counted for nothing according to Riddle, they had to go through the entire flight course like everyone else (although they probably wouldn't have had to repeat units). Some decided to wait it out and continue flying back home, rather than deal with Riddle's Flight Dept.

I knew people who got their Private Certificate before starting Riddle and they had to take a semester-long "Riddle-ization Course" that is supposed to "integrate" experienced students into the Riddle flight program. To me, it sounds like a complete waste of money. And apparently, during that course, the Riddle check pilots are somewhat rude to the students.

As for flight instructors "dragging everything out," the Riddle flight program seems to enjoy "milking" students for money. About half of the Private-Multiengine transition course is done in the C-172! What possible good purpose can that serve?

That was definently something I'll miss. To some, it may look pathetic that students get together to do multiplayer flights in Flight Simulator, or fantasize about going to Oshkosh. But it was fun for those of us who love aviation.

For a Riddle student, private scholarships are almost completely worthless. You bust ass to fill out 3 pages of forms and write an essay to be entered into a competition with MILLIONS of other students, for the miniscule chance of possibly winning only $1000. For a Riddle student, that's like a mere nickel in the grand scheme of things. You're highly unlikely to get ANY private scholarships. And as a Riddle student with mountains of expenses, they aren't really worth the effort.

I transferred to ERAU Daytona Beach last fall, with nothing other than a private certificate. I got put straight into an instrument block, which is what I requested. However, the problem with that was that I didn't know anything about their "flight procedures". I wish I would have had a couple of transition flights, just to get used to the system. Nothing worse than showing up, trying to learn a new avionics system, and flying under the hood at the same time.

I ended up getting so frustrated with the system, that after I got my instrument ticket, I decided that I was done flying on campus. Granted, it took me more flight time to get to the point of taking a commerical checkride, but I feel like I learned more part 61 vs the part 142 enviroment.

Fun, you can sit and talk about the great ILS you flew earlier in the day.

Southturn and Pete's Pizza were great places. Don't forget Mr Dunderbach's in Volusia Mall.

I DON'T miss ERAU.

At least I can't make that mistake again.

Good education...yes
Good deal...NO

Get a degree that you can use if you get furloughed or lose you medical.

This logic works well for the most part...but there is one little flaw. It really is a 3 part scale 1 or 0 or .5 (a 1 but you won't admit it to your buddies)

Go down to Stetson, find some hot lawyer chick, and she can support you when you are making $20k as a RJ FO. Your gf who is a pilot will be at FedEx while you are sitting airport reserve at Comair.
