I go to DCA in SFL but i hear the DCA down here is diff from the one up there since the one here is tied with a college and a tad bit cheaper. I hear the one up there is money hungry etc but the one down here is honest and straight up with you. Here they are always willing to work with you and the teachers and instructors seem to care and always try to help you out so you don't overspend. No matter where you go just don't get an aviation degree and shop around.

I wouldn't do either. I'd go to school, certainly, however I wouldn't go to either DCA or Riddle. At least, I wouldn't go to Riddle for an aviation degree. Engineering would be an option.

For flight training I'd go to a quality local FBO. You may be surprised at just how good a lot of them are.

Two suggestions....

1) Tighten up the spelling

2) Use the search function (use key words like ERAU, DCA, etc)

Two questions....

1) Were you drunk when you posted this?

2) Is your post a joke?

Whatever you do, double major or study something other than aviation science along with your licenses. Heck, go out and get an EMT cert. IE do something to save your bacon when the day comes you need to do something else.

I did all of the above and it's become exceptionally useful as I've grown older and my goals changed.

Hello there...I see that you said you currently attend DCA. I assume the SFL is in reference to Sanford, FL? Anyhow...I'm currently scheduled to begin there at DCA in Sanford this coming November and I just wanted to know what you think so far about your overall experience. I'm 25 years old and I have a four year degree in Business but for the past year and half I've been working in retail as a manager, and I know without a doubt that this is not a job a want to make a career out of. But I also don't want to jump into something that isn't any better. What advice or words of wisdom do you have for me?

There's a lot of people out there just like you. They have a decent job, but they're not completely satisfied and probably always thought flying would be a fun and rewarding career. So they blow their entire savings and probably some of mom/dad/grandma's gift money to get their ratings, then spend the next few years making 20 grand, possibly get furloughed a time or two, and then they think to themselves, "man this career really stinks," but they can't get out because they've spent so much money and time working towards this career and they want to save face around mom/dad/grandma and friends so they get stuck in this lousy career. In my opinion, I think you would be much more successful staying in the business field. Look for something in business that would make you happy, i'm sure being a manager in retail is not what you want to do, but at 25 it seems like you're on the right track to a better career and a better life than you would find in aviation.
