Multi-Crew Certification?

Multi-Crew Certification?
I did a search for this and couldn't find what I was looking for. What exactly is this whole thing about? Doesn't really look like there are many threads on it. If it is what I think it is, sounds like another thing to make a pilot career a little more retarded. And I was using that as slang.

I think I may know what you are talking about. MCC or Multi Crew Coordination is used for JAA certification. One must go through MCC training before flying a multi crew aircraft for hire. Pilots converting their license can be exempt from it if they have >500 hours TT in a multi crew aircraft.

I see the banner for it at the top of the page all the time. I just don't fully understand what they are trying to describe. They talk about all these open positions. 3000TT for wide body F.O. positions. There must be something more to it.

Hi!
It is a type of training used by JAA (Europe). I think they also use it for some ICAO training. I think it is mostly used to train the European, Asian, and Afrian Ab-initio pilots.
Boeing is trying to get something like this set up in the FAA system. We WILL need something like this around 2012, 2013 when the airlines will need lots of new pilots, especially if COngress passes the ATP required for all Part 121 flying!!!
If you want to find out more, go on pprune.org. That website is mostly for non-US pilots, and is enormous. They have LOTS of people who will know all about Multi-crew certification.

I can see this becoming a legal requirement in the coming years as part of the harmonization process with JAA and ICAO standards. Cliff you are right - a lot of things will change. On a side note, I hope to see a basic aerobatic course being mandatory for the commercial certificate.
MCC is simply a CRM course done in a sim. You can do it essentially in almost any sim and that's why you will see a lot of advertisement for it. It's a good way for companies to fill in empty slots and still make good $$$. I have heard some did in a King Air all the way to an L1011. The knowledge of systems is irrelevant. It's all about procedures and CRM.
