If you are refering to like IP Trainer 6.1 or whatever version... No, I don't advise you buy it. What I do advise is, to find some Old Jeppesen Approach plates, and start flying on any simulator. Once you have the basic approaches down, you can read up on holding, and start practicing that. The instrument rating is one of those things that can either be made very easy, or very hard - you decide. I for one chose the easier route, and learned how to fly the approaches by the books, and learned how to hold (mostly learning how to enter, and how to correct for winds keeping 1 min. inbound legs. Everything else is cake, good luck!
