Default Rentals around ATL

Does anyone have any info on good rental deals in the ATL area? Looking at PDK preferably, but anything around the northwest side of town would work too. Or is there a site out there that does a good job posting rental rates that I could check out?

The endless cycle of "thanks-but-no-thanks" letters is burning me out and I just need to get back in the air. Don't need anything fancy; just a good, safe airplane at a relatively low price.

Thanks in advance!

Out of RYY I have an Arrow for 90 per hour plus fuel, a Cessna 150 for 45 per hour plus fuel, and an Aztec for as low as 165 per hour plus fuel if purchased in blocks.

This question has come up here before so try using the upper left hand search box to turn up some of the older threads. I have not been in Atlanta for some time now, but it seems like the best deals on rentals were to be found at FBOs at RYY, LZU, and FTY. PDK was and probably still is the last place to go if you want to keep training costs down. Too much focus on the rich Atlanta business crowd. They do have a nice restaurant and pilot shop there. I have not lived in this area since 2006, bear in mind. I would Airnav up these airports and see who lists flight schools and airplanes for rent and call them.

AtlCSIP,

Do you know of anyone around Atlanta with a J-3 or Super Cub who will instruct? Any part of town is fine....

So as far as the tailwheel endorsement. I've been looking around and I find the cost and hour requirements to be rediculous. I won't say I don't respect tailwheel airplanes and the intricacies (sp) to them, but two to three thousand dollars for an endorsement that requires little more if any than a high performance or complex(per the regs) seems rediculous. I must disclose that I received my high performance and complex endorsements in quite a bit less than two hours each. I would expect to spend maybe three hours at the most for what the tailwheel endorsement requires. No disrespect to tailwheel pilots, just a gouge I think is being proposed by flight schools.

Yeah, at that price it's a bit silly. Most pilots I know got their tailwheel endorsement in 5 hours of dual or so. Even at $200/hr, which would be high, that's just $1000.

For instance, BUCKLEY AVIATION RATES, who happens to be a superb instructor in the DC area.

All of our aircraft except the Mooney are equipped with Garmin GPS. The DA40 is a 2008 XLS with the G1000. If you have any questions let me know.
