The 800 does a wide variety of flying from ATL. They do a lot of long haul transcon type flights. There is a lot of Central and South America flying. They fly turns to the Caribbean which go very senior. They also do some short haul flights. They really have picked up most of the flying the 757's did 10 years ago. Trips range from 1 to 4 days long with a lot of 4 day trips. They do a significant amount of late night or back side of the clock flying which is never fun. Keep in mind that trips and flying at Delta vary a lot more then at NWA and change seasonally as well as monthly changes. When I flew the 800 I enjoyed the trips. The aircraft not so much. Cramped cockpit with a overhead panel off a B-17 merged with a state of the art glareshield and instrument panel. Very strange for a modern aircraft.

gee,a NWA pilot who wants to go to ATL....what are the odds.

As people start to bid around the system it will become very clear the Delta pilots got the short end of the stick.

You have one less guy to worry about. You couldn't pay me enough to move to the south. Yeah, its cold, but it keeps the riff-raff out.

Mostly the 737-800's do overnights in Fargo and Detroit and Minneapolis. Rotations blocked at min credit due to the 31 hour lay overs at the Day's Inn. There's a snack machine in the lobby, but you still have to go outside to get there. The last day of the rotation is a MSP-SEA red eye with a two leg MD88 dead head to ATL.

The 737 flying is some of the best in the company. That is why it goes so senior. Lots of turns to the islands, and I have not seen a trip with more than four legs on it. (I am sure someone will point out one that does) Most are one and two leg days that take you from one great layover to the next.
The 757 has become the 88 out of ATL. You should see how many five leg days we have that go in to a nine hour overnight.
