going to ERAU for free...
Sorry, I know this isn't the right forum, but I know it is the most viewed. I just separated from the Navy in May and I have full benefits under the post 9/11 Gi Bill. ERAU is within the benefit cap for the state of Florida, which is about $62,000 a semester (including the summer). So therefore I can go for the entire 4 years, which in my case would have to be 3 straight years of school and all associated ratings for free under the 9/11 gi bill.
I know Riddle gets a bad rap, but is it because it is so expensive? Or something else? If you could go for free and receive a monthly living stipend would you? I currently have a PPL and right around 100 hours of flight time. How quickly could I get my comm-me and CFI ratings?
Thanks for any opinions or comments!

I can't speak for Riddle. Would you also need to get a BA or BS degree? If I were you and I didn't need a degree I would go to FSI academy at Vero Beach. With your flight time it shouldn't take longer than a year. Things were pretty good when I was there. That was a long time ago. Living in Vero stinks but you won't be there long.

I went to a community college, but I've flown with Riddle, Purdue, and UND grads. I would have to say that Purdue and UND were the most prepared for a 121 enviroment and Purdue seems like a fun option. Riddle graduates a lot of virgins, Purdue is a big 10 school and UND is a bit too chilly for me, but great hockey

Well all tuition and flight fees are covered 100% under the GI Bill. So I won't be paying for anything except books. I'd be majoring in aeronautical science with a minor in business.
I'm not really into the college sports thing, I'm gay, and I've spent the last four years in the Navy going all around the world. So no need to chase "chick" tail while at the game at a big college with sports. :-)

This forum is the only place I have heard anything negative about Riddle other than the price of flight programs. Read the US News and World Report rankings, that is what employers look at.
1. Riddle Daytona
2. Air Force Academy
3. Riddle Prescott
4. Naval Academy
If the government is paying for it, it is a no brainer.

If you want to be a pilot, it doesn't matter where you get your degree. You're just checking a square. Interviewers won't be impressed you went to Riddle, if that's what you are wondering. That was my experience and I totally understand it. That said, if it costs you nothing and that's what you wanna do, more power to ya.
