Default Ultralite CFI

This guy from my local EAA group would like me to instruct him in his ultra lite. Anything I should know about? I will have to look into the Regs and see if it can be done. Thought I need to be a LSA CFI to do this. Is dual given in an ultra lite worthless?

Is it a Part 103 compliant ultralight (meaning 1 seat, 5 gallons of gas or less, and some other stuff), or is it a N number experimental aircraft? If its the former, its tough to give instruction in a 1 seat plane. If its the latter, its a single engine airplane. From a legality standpoint, if you can instruct in a 172, you could instruct in the plane. A CFI is able to teach sport pilot stuff, if they want to. Just make sure its a safe airplane before you jump in the thing and instruct in it.
