“We are going to conduct all of our training flights in a two-pilot cockpit configuration to develop good crew coordination skills. The student and instructor will work together as a cockpit ‘team.’”
Does this mean that they are ALWAYS going to have someone backing them up, watching over their shoulder, pointing out their mistakes, keeping them honest?

I know that those all ALL benefits of a two-pilot cockpit, but there (at least in my training history) has been great benefit to having some training (and responsibility) for doing it all yourself at some point.

Is this the beginning of the Multi-Crew license that has been bantered about on this board before?

There is another thread on here about training on the G1000, and a good point is made that if you KNOW what environment that you are going to be flying in (in that case regarding avionics), then you should train in that environment. If these pilots are never going to be in a cockpit alone (strictly multi-crewed airline cockpits) then maybe there is something to be said for this - but personally I don't like the idea (but I am admittedly old fashioned in most of my training views)

The Fed's will probably create an ATP, limited to two pilot crew.

IMO this is the antithesis of what we really need. Ultimately a CA needs to stand on his/her own two feet. This will allow people who can't do that to slip through the system.

The benefit of the 1500 hour rule is that it will force most (there will always be way$ to get around it) pilots to acquire some real PIC without the supervision of an instructor.

Keep in mind that they are playing a game with the rules. If your a CFI, you can log the flight time while the other guy is logging it as well. So you split the cost of the plane between them. It doesn't mean that real instruction is going on.

Be careful with that.
A few years back a couple of CFIs were doing just that and both of em had their CFI ticket revoked and possibly their other tickets too. Don't remember all the details at this point.

That is definite fraud with the FAA. You can only log dual if legit instruction is occurring. You would have to show a reasonable need for instruction for a cert, rating, privilege, currency, proficiency, aircraft fam, area fam, club/rental checkout, insurance checkout, etc. You can't just do infinite XC and log it is dual.

We all hope.

But the possibility of an entirely new form of pay per view programs operated by 91 and 135 operators that ride the edge isn't too far fetched.

And just like others, there will be some clever marketing scheme behind it.

"For just a few thousand dollars, you can get valuable experience in line flying operations that will not only qualify you, but make you competitive for that regional job your after!" yada yada yada.
