Just left there last week after teaching there for a year and a half..pay starts off at $16/hr of flight and brief time.

Work rules are pretty straight forward..you schedule your students whenever you want. If you work in one of the JAA programs, they have some additional rules (max 10 hr day/min 10 hr rest)

Not sure what exactly they're looking for as far as quals right now..was 500 TT, and (I think?) 200 dual given and a CFII..however, they're losing instructors like crazy, so I'm sure they'll take a wet CFI.

When you show up for class, they give a written test..pretty much out of the CFI gleim..80% passing score..get lower and they send you packing. To pass standardization you do a brief over an assigned maneuver, and a flight that is pretty much a CFI checkride all over again..90% of guys have to repeat at least one thing on the flight..they're pretty forgiving on letting you repeat flights.

Let me know if you have any more questions

Flight Safety International (?) at Vero Beach (?), or some other location? It's a huge company.

Starting pay at FSI (142) is SIGNIFICANTLY better than 16/hr. (Regional CA pay or better in many cases).

Wanna see my last paycheck?? I take it you never worked there..at all...there's a huge difference in how the instructors at FlightSafety get paid and how airline pilots get paid..at FS you're paid flight time AND brief time with a student. So it's possible to bill 40 hrs/wk (if not some overtime) whereas in the airlines you're paid block time..where you can only be paid 30 hrs/wk, 100/month, 1000/yr etc etc...

Starting pay as an instructor at FS IS 16/hr..if you jump on with one of the JAA programs you get a raise..I left at 18/hr.

This is correct. And some JAA programs get even more than $18hr......try anything over $20. Just depends how long u been with the academy.

Jumpseat,

I was referring to the "other" FSI the 142 program, which given the thread that this apparently falls under, doesn't apply to the original poster.

Mod note- I am locking this thread because it is unclear what the topic is.

OP: If you want to start a similar thread ok, but please clarify which school, company or academy you are talking about. "Flight Safety" is too ambiguous. Give the full name of the firm, location, and the name of the position you are interested in so other users can respond properly.
