I don't think this guy could handle the costs of a 141, they often tend to be much higher than 61 especially when you factor in groundschool and things of this nature. How would a guy making minimum and giving most of it to his mom be able to pay that back, it's not like if he did get a cfi job or an entry level job in the industry he'd be making much more. If you feel like nothing else on this universe would satisfy your soul except to fly for a living, it sounds like you might want to look into the military. As for your mom, I don't know about the situation. Do everything you can for her but in the end the most important person to look out for is yourself.

I always thought of the military, but I dont think I could handle that lifestyle. I used to be in the Civil Air Patrol when I was younger. It's true that I always wanted to fly, but maybe I just am not able to do it. It's rather depressing working ramp on airplanes at work, and know it's pretty impossible to sit in the seat I want to. And as always you can argue that im not doing enough blah blah, just looking for a little help, experience etc... thats all.

Sometimes we have to temporarily accept a lifestyle we don't like in order to arrive at a lifestyle that we DO like. For many of us, the military was the ONLY way we could afford flight training. For some, the GI Bill was the only route to a college education. Most people can handle more than they think, provided they are willing to change their thinking. Good luck!

Yeah, I did CAP for a little while too...I enjoyed it, but I know it's not for everyone, plus you'd be kinda screwing your mom over if you did that. My advice to you is apply to every job as a waiter or pizza driver you can. You'd be making a good 10 to 20 dollars an hour. Give half of that to your mom, since she seems to be doing fine with that amount now, and save the rest for yourself. That's not enough though. You have to invest that money well. There is an account online that you can put your money into and get above a 5% interest rate on it...not a certificate of deposit, but an actual account, that you can pull your money out of within 3 days if you have to. My uncle has his money in one. I'll have to figure out the site if you are interested. Plus, it's good to save most of the money that's for yourself in that account. I only take 20% out of that to use as spending money until my next paycheck (which isn't much, but if I can do it, so can you). Trust me, you live in America, it may take a while, but your dreams are definitely attainable...Good luck

I couldnt have said it better myself......I joined the army 6 years ago after High school, been deployed 3 times as a helicoptor crew chief.....yeah its not what i really wanted to do but it kept me in aviation and I will be getting out with GI bill and College fund in hand along with the money i saved up in iraq. It hasnt been an easy road and Ive dodged some bullets for the country but I was in the same boat as you....No money and No hope....military isnt that bad.....seriously think about it....

I have been reading forums endlessly and came to a conclusion that flight training is expensive! I guess it didn't take genious to figure that out. I kept thinking how the heck will I ever pay for training. . . money? Dont have that, my mom takes all the money I work for the mortgage of the house. Loans? even if it were possible I would sell my sould at those interest rates without any gaurntees at the end of the tunnel. Hmm... what else, ah, a rich relative. . . dont have one of those. What to do now, and then here comes the part that might me you flame me, but please don't. I am just frustrated and losing hope in this. How much would you do to help a prospective pilot get in? Would you be willing to donate money for flight training? I work at an airport on the ramp and always thought like asking pilots as well, but I didnt want to look like a complete loser so I will do this online first. I guesstimate that flight training will cost somewhere around 27,000, with private already done, which somehow I hope I can pay myself. Is there a way that I can recieve enough donation to go through the training? What are you willing to do to help someone who dreams? Thanks for hearing me out and please do not look down on me.

Minimum wage? Supporting family members? No education (presumably)? Doesn't look likely, bud. Most people don't get what they want. I'll never play for the Bucs, and you'll never be an airline pilot. well..maybe you should consider another career path? How about enrolling urself into a local community college? There are some 2 year programs which will give you a job earning 30 - 45 k a year (medical assistant programs). You can use that income to fund flight training later on if you desire. Being enrolled as a student will also make u eligible for various student loans. No gaurantees? high interest rates?...sure.. but If you're not willing to take a chance you wont get anywhere. It just seems kinda silly to be asking for sponsership when pilots don't exactly have it easy nowdays. That being said..if i was in your shoes..i would also consider the military.. maybe you can enroll urself into school as well as an ROTC program.

I was just thinkibng about something like that, a medical tech for now. I was looking at grants but found it hard because most flight schools dofnt qualify for that kind of stuff. If you can tell me more about medical tech and stuff like that, that would be great. Any other information would be great. Thanks
