Generally, no. At least not for airplane CFIs.
I'm sure you've already read the PTS and saw that the spin task is optional, with the spin endorsement being sufficient, in the examiner's discretion. Most examiners either (a) avoid the task altogether, (b) test only orally on awareness and procedures, or (c) only have an applicant demonstrate the procedure if (b) leads to problems.

I have never heard of anyone (in recent times) who has had to do a spin as part of a checkride... I know several years back they would... I think its more of a CYA for the examiner than anything. Just be proficient with the procedure to get out of it and you will be fine, but if he/she does ask you to demonstrate it, dont worry just stick with your training and you will be fine...

They can have you demonstrate a spin, but due to the fact that most people do their CFI-SEL as their initial, they are required to take the check ride in a complex aircraft, most of which are not certified for intentional spins. Go up with your instructor in a C152 or C172 or something and do some spins and have them give you a spin training endorsement.. If you have that you wont be required to demonstrate a spin on the check ride.
