Default F.I.T. Aviation Interview

Hey all! I was recently contacted for an interview with FIT Aviation in Melbourne Florida and wanted to make sure that I do a bang-up job on the interview.

Are there any former or current instructor's from F.I.T. in Melbourne Florida with some insight on how your CFI Interview went? Questions asked ,experience, etc?

I plan on doing my II and MEI in the future and this is definately my school of choice for doing so. Plus I've factored in that I can finally get a degree that I've always wanted instead of having all these ratings under my belt. Also from what I've been told the great work environment and QOL and benifits instructors have workign there.

Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have an interview there as well. Anything else you have heard about instructing there? How many hours, Xc time, etc. I really want the job but I wish the new hire class was a little later.

I dont know much, but I stopped by there a few weeks ago to drop off my resume, spoke to the HR lady and to the gentleman who was in charge of marketing. From what I saw, a very professional environment.

As for times, I don't have an answer for you.As for requirements CFI/II/MEI but I think that may go case by case. I have a telephone interview this monday.I'm not quite sure what to expect, but I'd imagine just basic questions to get to know who I am personalitywise and some possible technical questions or stuff on instructor regs...But your guess is as good as mine!

AMy suggestion, go through with the interview. It never hurts! If I find out any more information, I'll be sure to let you know what I come up with.

From my research, it does look like an upstanding operation. I can't imagine the phone interview being that tough and from what I hear they need instructors. Good luck to you and let me know how the interview goes.

Don't know much about their interview process but I've heard from one of their A&Ps that they're really hurting for instructors and that they're getting new aircraft on Monday as part of Piper's Aviation Career Alliance with F.I.T.

I live in Melbourne and have visited their facilities many times since they host FAASTeam seminars there all the time . . . looks like a good professional outfit. I've thinking about applying for their CFI positions for a while now but just can't quite come to terms with the fact that my salary would be cut in half from what I'm currently making in the IT field . . . one of these days I might just take the plunge though.

PM me if you need any insights on QOL here . . . I've lived pretty much all over the FL east coast and overall I'm very happy living in the Space Coast area so far!

As a FIT Grad and previous Instructor there, I find the FIT' aviation program to be the best. Very professional and always bringing in new technology.

I stopped by there last month with another DAL pilot friend and former FIT Instructor. We were very impressed with the people and the facility.

The staff did tell us that new Pipers were going to replace the Cessna aircraft.

I have lived in Melbourne since FIT and highly recommend the area.

Good luck on your interviews.

I instructed there from 2003-2006 (student at the university 2001-2005). Loved it. Great group, great Planes, great maintenance. Went through a rough patch the last few years...CFI group got fed up with a bad manager and unionized....not sure how it is now that there is a union (I'm not a huge fan of the idea)....but the current chief pilot is one of my old students and SHE is a wonderful lady and a great pilot who I would work for any day.

Happy to announce that my phone went without a hitch!

They asked me pretty basic questions

Why do I want to be apart of FIT?

Driving Record

Any accidents/incidents on my FAA incident

And a scenario based question ; Say you come in from a flight with a student, and the lesson didn't go well, students becomes frustrated/angry and starts to yell. What do you do?

Then I was asked if I had any questions. And that was it.I spoke to the Director of standards and the Chief Pilot. Both of whom were very nice to me on the phone.

Just got the email 45 mins ago congratulating me and the invitation for standardization class on the 20th.Right now I'm pumped!
