Default FlightSafety Vero Beach/ F.I.T

Hey everyone, I was wondering was there anyone who happened to work for any of these two places on the forums? I was looking to apply at both and wanted some information. I heard nothing but good things about F.I.T and mostly good things about FlightSafety down in Vero Beach, from the forums searches I did which unfortunately were from 2008-2010. I know some of the things I heard about Flight Safety was that their instructors were not flying much, or that the school was not all it turned out to be. All in all i took the information I came up with, with a grain of salt, especially since they were from 2008-2010, and I wasn't sure if F.I.T was hiring or would I have to just email my resume in. I checked out their page and the only job posting as far as flight instruction was for a positon in Panama ( the country).

Thanks,

I'm a student at FSA. FSA is in dire need of more instructors. They have been offering free CFI/II/MEI with a two year contract if you get hired.

Instructors have 8+ students each, some students have left because they are not flying often enough. And there are 150 or so more students coming in from China and Saudi Arabia in the next couple of months, if not more than that.

I can't say anything about pay, just don't know, but the benefits are really good based off what I hear from instructors.

You can expect to top out your weekly hours in four days and enjoy a three day weekend, while racking up 1000 hours per year.

But getting through their 4-month CFI program, then waiting for standarization, is going to be a pain in the ass. And that's assuming you get through stands, a lot of people don't. They have separate stands for CFI-A, Instrument and Multi.

@dl773 thanks, fortunately I already have my cfi CFII and MEI. I've heard the same thing about their standardization class also, that's it's tough to get through. Just sounds like you gotta study it and know how to do things their way. I got a little more insight on it from someone else, all in all flight safety sounds like an awsome place to work. Pay could be better but chances are pretty high of me applying!!!

Stay away.... Actually go spend a stupid amount of money and see what kind of return you get on that investment.

Hey everyone, I applied at flightsafety about 2 weeks ago, I got an email the Friday before last (2 days after I applied) from someone in HR saying my resume/and or application has been sent on to the cheif pilots for review. I was just wondering how long does it usually take to get a call back?

Thanks,

I worked at FSA for 3+ years. It is a good CFI job.

As far as people being afraid of the stands class, its not all that bad. Also if you are looking to make a career out of being a pilot and you cannot pass the stands class at FSA how do you think you will do in a 121 training program?

PM me if you have specific questions.

@ pagey, exactly, but a lot of guys get down there and like to party I'd imagine, I never been the party type, like to have fun, but its a time and place for everything. To me it would get treated like 121 training, study, study, study, and party once its done!!!

FIT runs a better operation than FS. Planes are much nicer, and the university environment is much better.
