Default Master Degree at F.I.T. vs Embry-Riddle

I recently been admitted for both MS Aviation Safety at F.I.T. and MS Aeronautic Science at Embry-Riddle. I currently holds CFI and CFII, like to get my MEI once I started the program and slowly work my way to ATP. A friend of mine who graduated from MS Aeronautic Science with Riddle told me it's hard to find a job with that degree, so now I am thinking about Aviation Safety with F.I.T. Can I have some advises from anyone?

Since you already hold your CFI and CFII, you won't get the hour credit from the new ATP rules (assuming you didn't get these through a degree program). In that case an aviation degree really won't be worth much outside of aviation. Personally I'd be looking at a degree that can be useful elsewhere. The airlines couldn't care less...

The USAF is hiring. No experience necessary. When you get out, you'll have more than enough... just say'n.

Everyday a flight of airman arrive at BMT. Yeah they are shrinking in some career fields, but there is a shortage in others.

What is an "aeronautical scientist"? What kind of science do they do? IMO, it's just a made-up degree for them to rake in money, and I largely support education and some of the virtues of some of these institutions. Getting a degree as specialized as "aeronautical science" when the position doesn't even exist in the real world is beyond stupid IMO. It's even worse than the BS degree of the same name. You might be able to get into aircraft insurance or some other areas, but you'd need strong credentials/training in other areas for these jobs. Just go with basic "safety", not even aeronautical safety. I studied "safety" and the entire human factors/ergonomics/industrial safety/industrial hygiene/occupational safety background gives limitless potentials IMO, especially when combined with some pilot background if you want to apply it to something aviation related. If not, you can still do all sorts of stuff.

So, don't just consider what I said above, but consider solid master's degrees that are actually respected in industry and the business world, like ergonomics, engineering degrees, etc. These "super master pilot" degrees are a joke IMO.

I thought that was what you were implying. My apologies.

I know first hand that some schools try to screw people around with the Capstone course. Some have a 40 percent drop rate.

I finished up and wish I never did it. Just drop the idea, especially DAB.
