Default Accelerated CFI program/ATP

Hello all,

I have my commercial single engine instrument and my multi engine instrument (and a fun but irrelevant glider rating). Commercial multi instrument checkride will be in a few weeks.

I am headed for ATP having passed the written in July before the reg change. I already have 1130 hours. I have made arrangements to get the rest of my hours over the next 18 months at around 6 hours per week. Then I'll have 4 months remaining to get the ATP practical done.

I'm thinking that I'd like to get my CFI's done in the time prior to my ATP practical.

I'm an unusual case as far as students go: I'm not necessarily here to be an airline pilot. I already have a nice job in the computer business. I want to be *able* to apply for an airline job if I want and I want the personal accomplishment of having achieved ATP but most likely I'll just flight instruct on weekends and stick with my computer business. I've been flying for 14 years already over which I have built the time that I have.

That all said, I want to find an accelerated CFI program somewhere in or near SoCal (I'm in San Diego). I want to get all of my ratings done and overwith as I've been letting this drag on for far too long. I talked to ATP Flight School and they don't do initial CFI unless you do it from private with them. I'd also like to not have to take more than two weeks off from work at a time to do it. And if I like the school I'd like to continue on with them to get my ATP with them.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Do your CFI somewhere other than ATP. They produce the worst CFIs I've ever seen. Truely horrifying how bad their instructors are.
