Visa for US flight training
I've done a little bit of searching but I am unsure what exactly is required for my situation.
I am a Canadian/British dual national who has recently graduated and wish to pursue a private then commercial license in the US. For several factors I hope to do this in Lexington, Kentucky. I have contacted a flight school who have informed me that they are waiting for approval to be able to aid in student visas, but that hopefully it should be soon, although they have not been given any time indication.
There don't seem to be many flight schools in Lexington, and none which offer visa assistance. Would it be possible to start training in the US, visiting on a Canadian passport, essentially visiting as a 'tourist'? It is my understanding that non-nationals are able to fly in the US after a TSA approval process. I presume if this is the case that a private license cannot be gained without a proper student or training visa?
Any thoughts are welcome, thank you!
