Default Training in DC experience

Hello everyone,

I'm losing my mind trying to decide a flight school

Many different options, and one of them with a good friend in the DC area. A kind member of this community offered me his point of view and his experience, and it wasn't too nice!. That airspace, the weather, etc....

Can anyone share his experience too? any input will be greatly appreciated. Need to decide where I go in a few days and I have a huge headache lol.

Thank you guys.

Training in DC this time of year can be tough with the weather slowing down your progress at every turn. If you are looking to cram a lot of flying into a shorter amount of time I would look around for areas of better weather. FL, TX, AZ would be the top areas to look into. If you are just flying on the side of work, the DC area will offer you more experience over time with weather etc.

I would also recommend TX, FL, AZ, or CA. Generally better weather, cheaper cost of living...except maybe CA depending on what part of the state you live in. Not sure what you're looking for, but I would go elsewhere in the country if you can make it happen.

As far as airspace, it is a pain sometimes, but not difficult at all as long as you've studied up on the procedures to fly around here.

I'm looking for a decent school, reliable overall. I live in Vegas right now, so Arizona would be easy for me, but accomodation is becoming a pain in the ass too.

I visited Transpac a year ago and facilities are pretty impressive. Don't think they offer aircraft rentals for customized training.

I need to fly around 50h, depending on my rusty skills, to prepare all the checkrides. I have already 315h, with 35 of multi. (JAA CPL ME/IR expired).

I only need to fly some 35-50h and I'll study full time so if there's a sunny day, I can have a lesson in the morning and then another one in the evening, so I dont think weather would slow me down that much, dont you think?. Anybody have an idea of good schools in Manassas/Leesburg? Aviation Adventures look famous but I'm open to small clubs or any decent school, even in a different airport.

Aviation Adventures or Dulles Aviation. I can't recommend AvEd, but I also haven't lived in DC in 10 years. (Moving back next month).

Hello,

My brother has started his career with Classic Helicopter Corporation in Seattle, WA. He got the scholarship for the aviation degree.
