No worries mate. My cell # is on my skype details. Drop us a line or PM me when you are on the way. I'm off for a while as we are training Indian pilots for Jet Airways, IOE and what what, so I'm shadow rostering; that means if the guy shows up for his training flight I get to go back to bed.

Not really.
I don't know why these ex Ansett-come-Jetconnect guys think they have a monopoly on hiring in NZ, other then with Air NZ of course. There were a number of Jetconnect guy's picked up during the last interview round with Contract Air, I don't know of any one of them yet to start a course, but as of late it has been Air Chathams and Air Nelson drivers who have come out of the sim and are now on line (as of the last couple weeks specifically). One of them used to be my co-pilot.

Thanks KoruPilot,
I'll plan on spending an extra day in AUK on my way down. I should know more in a week or two.
BTW what are your Skype details...I could not find anything on this site. I'll just plan on PM'ing you and I'll try to work around your schedule.
Cheers,
JD

Hey Koru,
It looks like there are some minor complications in my wifes pregnancy. There is a decent chance I will be heading down a few weeks earlier then I planned. I'm looking at tickets for mid May. What are the chances you will be around then. I'd love to buy you a beer and meet your friend. Hopefully things work out I don't need to head down on short notice!!
Cheers,
JD

I went through the process for my FAA CPL and ATPL for a NZ one. For the ATPL you need current Class 1 medical and also get a NZ one. Dr. Richard Batt in Parnell does NZ ones, and Reumera Doctors just outside Parnell do both. I might have the phone numbers laying around.
You will need to sit the Air Law, similiar to FAA regs, but in meters and KMs instead of feet and miles. I had a study guide for it, think I got that from the site Koru mentioned above. Also there is Air NZ guy that has a study course, PPSC, will have to look for his number as well.
And finally, with the ATPL you have to do a flight test, and from what I was told has to be with an approved airline, and yup, the only approved airline is Air NZ. So I had to book the 320 sim.
Best thing to do is call or email Guy or Brain down at ASL, www.aviation.co.nz and also down load the Fit and Proper Person Form from CAA as this is required now. Basically your driving and criminal record from which ever country you spend most of your time.
Hope that helps as well
Oh yeah for the Air Law test, you have to schedule from ASL, and if you want to sit in AKL better do that soon. Usually a month ahead of time, otherwise you can sit any test down in Lower Hutt at the head office on MON, TUE THUR or something like that.

Mowiepilot,
Thanks for all of the great help!! I would certainly appreciate any phone numbers you have. I will definitely be looking into the info that you and Koru have provided! I will hopefully be able to find a a Dr. near Invercargill to give me the NZ Class 1 medical. I already have the FAA Class 1 so hopefully it wont be too painful.
I guess I am still confused about the the ATPL, On Air NZ's website they mentioned that an ATPL or foreign equivilent is required. I was under the impression that my ATP would suffice to be hired and then I could do the ATPL checkride in conjunction with my company checkride.
Thanks again for all of the great info.
Are with Air NZ too?
Cheers,
