Contract rate for 172/182 pilot in Africa?
I've been offered a unique opportunity to fly a contract in Africa. Its a 1-2 month position flying a small cessna doing survey and wildlife management. All expenses are paid for, room board and travel are all covered. So anything I ask for in salary goes into my pocket. They have asked for my rate.
I have no idea how much to ask for as a daily or total contract rate. Can anyone advise me on what I should be asking for? I am in between jobs so the timing is good for a short term project. There is also an opportunity for this to turn into a long term thing.

How about $1/day?
Are you for real?

Now “flying in Africa”?
You’re gonna run away on the third day.
If you last that long.

My choice is no income by turning down the job.
Or
Some minor income for 1-2 months while I search for a better opportunity.
So why is this not a good choice?

UK based but lots of detailed Africa information from people who are still flying there so they should be able to help you better. Just be prepared for some serious grilling about this little adventure.

I've flown with numerous crewmembers over the years who had Africa flying on their resume, and most spoke of it as an adventure and without regret. Good luck!!

You have any idea about Africa?
This is probably East Africa where they use foreign mercenaries to hunt down groups of roaming poachers.
Poachers with military grade weaponry that use machine guns on elephants...and airplanes.
You’ll be flying out of dirt strips.
Africa is NOT for the faint of heart.

African conservationists 'shoot to kill poachers' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-10992502
*besides any flight time in Africa will be useless for an application for a regional as they’ll have no way to verify your flight times, it’s SE and might as well as be Parker time.
