My guess is that all major destinations end up with one daily 777 and one daily 380, or one 777 and one 350. Either way we win! :-)

Also using the A310 sim for the interview most of the time now. Sometimes the A320 for those who are Airbus FBW qualifed. Umm, and yes, we happen to have an A320 sim sitting in one of our facilities even though we don't fly the type. Same goes for the A310, but at least we used to fly the type. Typhoonpilot Did you guys ever have a 737 type? That is what I have my upcoming interview sim eval in. |

Dubai: Emirates announced on Sunday that it has placed an order for 50 Boeing 777s in a deal worth $18 billion, in addition to options for 20 planes of the same type, taking the total order value up to $26 billion (options included). The $18 billion-order marks the single largest commercial plane order in Boeing's history by dollar value, said Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group. This order adds to Emirates' existing world's largest fleet of 95 777s in service. "With 61 777-300- ERs currently in service, this record-breaking dollar value is another milestone for Emirates and affirms our strategy to expand our long haul destinations and continue to excel as a world's leading carrier," said Sheikh Ahmed. Added Jim Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes: "As the largest operator of the 777 in the world, Emirates has played an important role in development of the airplane and its input over the years has been invaluable in the development of the 777 programme." With Emirates order, the 2011 net order book for the 777 currently stands at 182, according to Boeing. Also using the A310 sim for the interview most of the time now. Where can I find an updated FULL payscale? The one on APC has certain corrections (first year pay). How does the second and subsequent years look? Also, I under that seniority dictates schedule. Is this correct? How about upgrade? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.
|
APC does a reasonable job at keeking the information up do date, but there are a lot of inaccuracies right now.
Best place to get the latest numbers is here I can tell you my base pay is significantly more than the 10 year captain amount shown on the scale. The base pay changes almost every year. The whole scale goes up for inflation and you move up one step so it averages around a 6% raise. Some years it's been 15%. Base pay for F.O. when I started was only $4500/month. Now a first year F.O. can reasonably expect to make close to $100,000. Upgrade is by seniority as long as you meet the minimum requirements for hours. Monthly schedule is a rotating bid. It goes in five month cycles. You get placed in one bid group and that group rotates from bottom to top. Effectively you get two top bids/year, two second to top, etc. It works out pretty well and is one of the fairest I've ever seen. Typhoonpilot |

I was offered a sim eval in Jan, then this morning I was contacted and offered a first officer pre selection program phase 1 earlier in the month of Jan.
Can anyone shed some light on what this means? What is the Pre Selection Program? |
How long before you completed the online application did you receive a FO preselection program phase 1 and when you find out what that means, please let us know.
Regradless, congrats! |
Here was my time line:
Submitted app Within 8 hrs I got an email saying I was short listed for an interview. 3-4 days after that I was contacted and set up a MIA sim eval for Jan 2012. Now 3 weeks later I've been contacted again and asked to complete the pre selection Phase 1. It seems like it will be Compass Testing, Reasoning Testing and a short interview, then do the sim a week later. If succesful with all you go to DBX for whatever is left.(I think) |
That sounds a lot like the pre-selection program I went through back in July-September. First stage is compas tests, psychometric tests, and a short one on one interview. Second stage was sim eval, third stage is a 2 day process where the first day was completing one compass test (joystick one) that they didn't have us do in the states, a couple more psychometric tests, HR briefing and finally the accommodations tour. The second day was the group assessment, psych interview, and panel interview. If you passed at the end of the afternoon, you go get all your medical stuff done.

They are getting feedback that the LCC's roster pattern is making it difficult to come to DXB for 5 days( 3 days plus travel), if they breack it up more LLC pilot will appy
|
Those of you that are getting responses within just a few hours of submitting the application. Would you mind letting us know what your experience is? i.e total time, pic etc? Thanks.
|
I submitted a speculative app last year and then got an email back in May for one the first pre selection day in LHR. As I was / am short of the min hours I had to wait for the sim in Nov again in LHR, and am now waiting for the dates for the final couple of days in Dubai. The pre selection and sim are exactly as detailed here and on pprune. I would recommend Skytest for the aptitude tests and math test, as they are identical (worth the €60).
Irrelevant of your hours, my impression (and feedback from others at my major LCC in Europe who have applied) is they will contact you if you hit the min requirements, or are within 500hrs of hitting said mins. They will not hire you if you do not have the mins period, but you can go through all the selection process and be lined up ready to go as soon as you have the min hours. So far the process, although long, has been very good and every effort has been made during the selection to make you as comfortable as possible. I hope now I can just jump the final hurdle in Dubai! Feel free to question me on anything specific, and I will try help. Good luck. |

A bulk of the 350 order are the 900's which they like and these are to replace 332/343/345 and @ 12 older 777. EIS for the 350 for EK was 2014 but they are planning on early 2015.By the the last 380 and 359 arr there will be something to replace the 777, be it a 777ng or just new 777. All of north america will be 380 , waiting on a 30T increase .
Sorry Fatbus, they only got 6 tonnes: Airbus to offer higher-weight A380 from 2013 By: David Kaminski-Morrow Airbus is to offer a higher-weight version of the A380, which will be available for delivery to customers early next year. The airframer will raise the maximum take-off weight to 575t, corresponding to a 6t increase on the current heaviest variant and 15t above the basic specification. It will stretch the range of the double-deck aircraft by some 150nm, said Airbus, taking its capability to around 15,500km (8,350nm) at current payloads. Airbus said the higher-weight version would be offered for introduction to service early in 2013. The airframer's most recent aircraft characteristics document, from November last year, listed six weight variants for the passenger type. These had maximum take-off weights ranging up to 569t for the WV002 variant. Airbus said the heavier version would include a 3t increase in maximum zero-fuel weight as well as maximum landing weight, with a resulting 3t increase in payload. Before the type entered service with Singapore Airlines in 2007, Airbus performed rejected take-off tests with the aircraft at a weight of 575t. The proposed freighter would have had a take-off weight of 590t. Engine Alliance is to have a higher-thrust version of its GP7200 powerplant ready for service entry by early 2013, to support the higher-weight version. The engine, designated the GP7272, will be rated at 72,000lbs (320kN), said Mary Ellen Jones, president of the General Electric-Pratt & Whitney joint venture. With 2,000lb of extra thrust over the current version of the GP7200, this engine will enable services such as Dubai-Los Angeles. Engine Alliance is offering the GP7272 to customers, although none has selected it so far. The powerplant manufacturer has confirmed, however, that Middle Eastern operator Qatar Airways has selected the GP7200 for its 10 A380s. "We have nearly 600 orders to date, giving us a 56% market share of total engine orders for the A380 so far," said Jones. Qatar Airways joins Emirates, Air France and Korean Air, which between them have 31 A380s in operation, as well as Air Austral and Etihad Airways, as GP7200 customers. A further 14 A380s powered by GP7200s will be delivered by Airbus this year, said Jones. She said Engine Alliance is focused on campaigns to place GP7200s with Hong Kong Airlines and Russia's Transaero, and is presenting the engine to China Eastern Airlines, which has expressed an interest in the aircraft. The rumor of a 30 tonne increase and the A380 going to the west coast can now be put to bed for a few more years. Typhoonpilot |
Well you're probably right. Wait and see what TC says, he might not be too keen to up the order. I also see Boeing mentioning 77X or 778, which would help with the load restriction. Personnally makes no difference to me , I prefer the shorter trips, but this could be good news for new 777 hires from NA for a few years.

To TyphoonPilot, or anyone else with insight:
Filled out the application early this week, and two days later got an automated reply saying that I did not meet their minimum requirements, and that once I updated my app showing that I did meet the mins, they would reconsider my app. While it's true that I'm below their mins, I'm only short by 100 hours TT, and already exceed their min requirements in all other categories. They state that they will consider applicants for an interview who are as much as 500 hours below their mins. Any theory as to why I wouldn't be considered? Has anyone else with similar quals received this letter or the opposite? Thanks for your help. |
I recently got the "do not meet mins letter". All my jet time is below 30T. Is your time in aircraft larger than an RJ? Could be the issue.

Like you both said, it's an automated response. I got the same response, followed a few weeks later with an invite, and I was 500hrs short at the time. Just keep updating and have some patience (you'll need for the whole application process anyway.........it's pretty intense!) if you meet all the other criteria the invite will come.
|
Ok, thanks. Widespreadpanic, no, most of mine is above 30 tons, so not sure about that.
|
I'm not sure but I think those would be auto generated emails and when HR get around to actually looking at them you will get a different response.
Unfortunately EK is getting lots of CV's with required time and 320/737ng time so you might find things a little slower. Just keep updating. For info for those that are considering coming, most new hires will have there training outsourced, would recommend not bringing family to DXB until you are done as they will be in DXB by themselves, this has happened before and has been hard on the family. |
Hope so fat bus. I'll keep the updates coming.
|
Since when and for how much longer will EK will be getting more pilotos?
|
What is EK's policy on furloughed pilots?

For those who have successfully completed the psp interview and Sim, what is the success rate in final interview in dubai? Not much testing left at that point.

As someone who was in the Miami Jan psp, and has not gone to Dubai yet, I have heard that the first two phases have about a 60% pass rate and the third phase a 90% pass rate. |

Hey guys,
I had a question about visiting Dubai before an interview and what you would recommend seeing. My goal is to leave around the second week of March and bring the wife so we can see if it would be a good fit for us. What do you think we should go see, experience, or otherwise visit while there? The whole purpose of this trip is to get an idea of what Dubai is like and if we would want to move there if successful in the interview. I appreciate any help you can provide and all the help that has been given so far! |

Hey, I have been shortlisted for a month now. How long does it take to get an interview after you're shortlisted? |

Silicon Oasis is where the majority of pilots live now. There are other areas spread throughout Dubai. Have to check out The Marina area and Jumeirah Beach Walk if you think you'd like to rent an apartment on your own. If you have kids you need to look at the American schools near the Mall of the Emirates. Both Dubai American Academy and American School of Dubai are near there. Best to make appointments at both. Rent a car and drive so you can get a feel for how bad people drive here :) Check out grocery stores and other every day living type things. Get someone with the EPC card to take you to some of the facilities we have access to, beach clubs, gyms, etc. Go into the old part of the city on both sides of the Creek and take an abra ride. Try out the Metro for getting up and down Sheikh Zayed Rd. You can ride it right to the Emirates HG. TP |
For those who have gone to DXB for an interview, how long prior to your interview date did you receive travel arrangments? Thanks.
|
Fullflank.
6 days. |
I'm going on the 20th and don't have my travel arrangements yet. I'll let you know howanu days prior I get it.

Thanks guys

What are average time among applicants for Fo's?
