I tought there was a pilot shortage in India and China, you can have flown the space shuttle before and have 20.000hrs but if you don't have 100hrs of so called experience on the aircraft they will not even contact you back.
Find this very silly and non productive especially when they need people...

Well. . .to be fair, they have their own low time pilots so why would they hire a foreigner with no experience?
On the other hand, there is more than one contract out there for expat pilots with at least turbo prop experience who are willing to self sponsor a type rating; you just have to look mate.
Just out of curiosity, have you flown the space shuttle and/or do you have 20000 hours?

No but have plenty of experience, just found it puzzeling the silly recuirements of 100 hrs of experience on aircraft..with a TT of less than 1000hrs.
Most carriers in the US require totaltime and turboprop/jet or some multi time...not aircraft specific time for an FO position.
But I am sure they have plenty of qualified applicants...thats why I see the same ads month after month

Well, like you said, not many of posts for people with no experience; quite a few for people with experience.
It is unlikely there are many B777 pilots around with less than 1000 hours total who are not currently bonded and happy at a major airline. Those minimums are DGAC regs normally, and frankly quite misleading. I agree that they should be more carefull and realistic when they post. There is one contract company looking for B777 captains that has had very misleading information posted for some time; I don't know why as they must get a heap of resumes, most of which would be useless.
I agree that it is puzzling at times though. Why would EK take pilots with the requesite jet time, with most of that their total time, when they could have highly qualified, highly employable pilots whom have been flying heavy turbo-props, as captains for years? You'd have to ask them.
Even though there are still a number of people looking to jump around to other carriers, and those people have the requesite qualifications to fill those seats that you speak of, there are at least two airlines in the India/Asia region I know of that have hired medium to large turbo prop pilots, right seaters no doubt, into the right seat of brand new Boeings within the last month. In one case it is self sponsored, in the other the airline pay's for the rating. . .however, both take a fair bit more work to land than emailing CV's and filling out online applications.

Thanks 777Dozer
Thanks for the info Koru,
I am on a 747, but am rated on the 737 so tought it would be fun to try out for a left seat 737 job..tough I dont have nay time on the aircraft other than the Sim for my typeride....but I cant even land a right seat job in India or China. Guess they want some Ab Initio kid with zero experience.....but then again I don't call the shots.
Good thing there is plenty of real jobs in the states now....

Vikingpilot,
Why don't you try Great Wall or Jade Cargo? They'll pick up someone with little jet time and I understand that Jade is finally paying.
Are you a skipper on the B747 and is it the classic? Cargo8 out of Singapore is taking over the classic flying for NCA and looking for people.
If you are right seat on the 747 then it might be a bit difficult to walk into a left seat of anything as there are still quite a few rated guy's with time on type. . .lousy time for some backwater Indonesian carrier, but time none the less. Don't ask me.
Otherwise there are a number of opportunities out there for rated guy's with jet time, just not in the left seat if they are not currently captains.
And please do NOT take this the wrong way as I truly mean no disrespect and get caught myself at times, but if it was me, no matter what I was writing or where I was writing it, if someone involved in the hiring process at a company for which you might want to work, might happen to read it, I would use a spell checker. I'm not trying to be be an arse, I'm just saying. . .take it or leave it it is up to you.
