Wow. I think it would be some good information if you can give some information about yourself. I am sure it would help a lot of folks out there who want to move to Europe (pref regarding the work permit). I actually did the military in Greece to get my citizenship and be able to fly for an European Carrier.

I took a big gamble and left Active Duty USAF and went to USAF Reserves non-flying staff job. Only part-time about 4 days per month and slung drinks in a bar, paid under the table in Central europe (no permit required). Flying small airplanes on the side, finishing the JAA ATPL writtens and building relationships within the flying community. It took 2 years to build the relationships and then got the work permit. I don't know of any easy or quick way, it was just the way i did it. From what I know, only building a relationship with locals will help you get in. At least this was my route. Send me a PM when you can for more info.

Good Luck,
lifter

Chins,

You are on the edge of the competitive mins but you probably would get a call from CX for the SO spot if that would be your thing. You'll need some turbine PIC for the right seat though.

Yeah, I'm sitting right on the edge of the turbine PIC. I'm just a few numbers away but the music kinda stoped on our upgrades for a bit. I'm one of the frist guys at my company hired post 9/11 that will have been an FO for more than 2 1/2 years (not withstanding folks holding out).

Can SO's work on the freighter fleet in the US or is it only the passnager gig? I like Hong Kong but I'd like the option of comming back too.

Ryan Air hires off the street 737 Captains and provides all visas and work permits. Need 500 pic though... You can get that in Hong Kong or India if you can get in as a FO and work your way up.

In Greece we have a requirement to be FLUENT in the Greek and English language, but that is sorta going down the toilet with the lack of pilots.
I see you guys all the time with the 734 in LGAV.
