Redwood, who did you fly the 330 or the 340 for? Why did you leave that gig? Why would you leave VA at this time?

Thanks

With Etiahd came over when I heard a new 121 carrier was popping up, so I went for it. My dad worked for TWA on the 27 based in Addis Ababa, I was born in Jeddah to American parents. TWA was training Ethiopian and Saudia guys out there. Went to school here in the US though. My dad and I both got a job flying gulfstreams out of beirut, the only time I ever got to fly with him, after about 5 years in lebanon, I left for Etihad spent 3 years there, came back to the US missed my interview date with Omni then came to virgin.

East Coast -West Coast trips aren't for me. I was looking at a map in my office a few weeks ago, I had pinned all the countries/cities I had been to, and it amounted to only 38% of the world. I wanna see at least 75% before I expire.

There is alot of night flying due to the fact they want their pax to get to their destination in the morning. Living in a foreign country, flying with some of the best guys in the biz, that you would never meet here in the US is great and if you get the job you'll see what I mean.

No, the company isn't that great but which one is? The people and the smokin hot FA's are what make it enjoyable.BTW if you are single sign up, it won't be long before one of those girls picks you up. Some tips:

Canadians-Smokin hawt! They look great but very high maintenance,if you can keep up with their ever-changing looks and demands, you will be a happy guy...or girl if you're into that kinda thing.

Koreans-If the giggling in packs , like a bunch of down syndrome hyenas doesn't get to you, the kimchi flavored kisses will.

Filipinas-Oh yes, arguably the the second best of the best, these girls have it all and for the bride price of $20 dollars a month you too can have yourself not only a girl but a family , and warm bed waiting for you back in Manila.

Aussies-Nothing much t say about em, except get 'em while they're hot!

Europeans-Same as the aussies, they look great when they're young but...look out later.

Japanese-Like most of the other asians(no offense),they saty in packs, kinda hard to draw em out, but kudos to you if you do, you'll have lots of stories to tell in the crew rest....really you will.

Lebanese-If you are lucky enough to score a brunette, I will fly to your home, take your entire family out for a round of Efis Pilsen, and we will smoke to your great success. You will be the happiest person in the world when you know you got one of them waiting at home for you, just hope shes not on one of those 3 days when you get there

Now to answer some questions:
What kind you expect on the 320? Days off, trips and such?
From what I hear from a friend who used to be a flight attendant but made the switch...The A320 has the best lines right noww. Your choice of day trips which...are great if you want to be home everynight, or 2 day trips which don't work you too hard either. The only complaint so far is the interior of the AC which from what I hear, and from my experience on their 767 isn't that nice...at all.

Hi all. I submitted an application to Etihad the other day and received the "thank-you" e-mail and then shortly after received an e-mail stating that I was not on the shortlist. I have over 10000 hours and just finished 2 and a half years as capt on the 767-300. Before that I was FO for a year on the 767. Prior to that I was FO on an A320 for almost five years. I've read the minimums and it looks like I would qualify for FO 777. It seems that the reply is a computer generated one. Anyone have any insight??

Thanks

At the roadshow, I overheard conversation between the recruiter and several Boeing pilots mostly from AA. As of right now, they are not interested in any Boeing type rated individuals regardless of your experience. Anyone in this situation was told to keep updating their resume online. This will change mid next year when new 777s arrive on property. Right now, the focus is the Airbus A320 and A330. Period.

I may be wrong but from all the conversations I overheard, they do not seem to be in the business of training you for a full type. Their airline is growing rapidly and they have a lot of pressure to meet demand. A type is a must.

I'm here and friendly with the recruiters and still can't keep up with the requirements. Early this year we were hiring warm bodies with jet time, now Chuck Yaeger might have a hard time getting an interview. If you are typed and not with a major you stand a good chance, EY would sooner hire you from a bankrupt company than from a legacy who would probably recall you.
BTW I do love flying here, the crews are really great to work with and socialise with.

Does this mean EY does not make you resign seniority? I'm a furloughee with an interview in October, but I'd like the option to come back if called.

It's not that they wont hire from legacy carriers, in fact there are Delta, American and others here, it is just a perceived preference. When I was hired I needed to prove that I had cut ties from my previous company.
