Any word on Pluna down in Uruguay
#1
I lived in Argentina as an exchange student back in in the late 90' and would love to fly an RJ down in S.A. Wondering if anybody has any info with Pluna and contacts with any leasing agencies they are working with. I couple of people from QX have gone there, but I didn't really know them. Any info would be much apprciated.
P.S Don't need the "don't go down there, S.A is a dump comment etc. I speak spanish and spent over a year living in Argentina and traveling Brasil and love that region! Thanks of looking out for me though

I lived in Argentina for a couple years as well. I agree with you. Great country. It's not like the states, but is that always a bad thing? Great food, culture, people, etc... I would enjoy working there for a few years. I would need to have international travel privileges with whoever I worked for to come home and see Mom once in a while. Buena Suerte Che!

I am now working for Pluna in a contract to get their guys up to speed on the CRJ900. They have one of the most professional group of pilots I have ever run into. The problem your question raises is how would you get in.
They are seriously one huge family, two brothers fly together, father and sons, they do it and the kicker is that they have been doing it for between 10 and 30 years each. It would be a hard nut to crack.
The other problem is that they are downsizing from 76s and 73s. No one likes it, but that is how the industry is moving.

With Indigo having a stake in Pluna now things are changing. Look to see what Indigo does with companies if you want to know the plan, you will get an idea. The only difference with Pluna is that they are being very very resistant to change.

Does anybody have some good, recent info on Pluna? I know that they supposedly have pay issues, but not sure how serious or rampant they are... And if you would please, refrain from replying by saying, "They don't pay their pilots!!!" or some variant of that answer. I'm curious as to how bad the pay issues are and how working for them is. Is it required to speak Spanish? I have heard that it is not for the 6 month contract.... Thanks.
