They seem desperate.

I have an application on hold for a DEC position. May I please enquire whether the 'accelerated command' programme is still in force?

 

Accelerated command is (offically) gone. If you fancy to being fired for doing a missed approach while in training, apply, there's a reason they're desperate for pilots.

 

Anyone got any ideas for the time to command in EK? I heard in the past it was 3-4 years, but now it's somewhere between 7-8? Can anyone confirm?

 

I heard by friend there, around 8 to 9 years, BUT 62 A/C's delivery between now and 2012 and plus 100 more until 2016, I really doubt it.

There were four former EK gents interviewing with me in China. Their fun meters with EK have pegged out… thus resigned their member ship with the club. Their complaints, to name a few, ranged from termination of the quick route to command… a capitation on utility co-payments… being paired with inadequate Emirate Captains… being thrown under the bus when the Emirate Captain commits an aviation related faux pas… increased productivity to 92 hours per month for the same pay.

As the late Sy Simm, of Simms Clothing said… “An educated consumer is our best customer”. Perform your due diligence before accepting the job offer.

FlyDubai… and extension of EK is of no great shakes either.

 

FlyDubai wants (and this is from two buddies on NG's who have looked) a fully type rated NG driver with time on type to sign a bond worth, wait for it. . . the cost of an NG type rating.

This is now happening in China as well for guys looking to upgrade (typed and current on the aircraft, so why the bond?). I'm all for companies having bonds, but it would appear that paranoid operations are starting to ask for unreasonable, what I would call completely unreasonable, conditions from the pilots in order to keep them around.

If the T&C's, lifestyle and culture of said airline are good then the pilots will stay, be happy, and work hard for the company. Perhaps these HR run operations could take a good look at places like AJX/NCA and get some hints. . . or they could just fire the entire HR departments, either is good by me.

But I digress off topic. . . again.

 

The training bond requirement, not indicated on their initial offering, prior to the formal interview, applied to the initial cadre trainers too!?! I don't get it but calling the management and HR team at FlyDubai stupid is a plain insult to those who are just plain stupid.

 

Well for one, there's a lot of old airframes to be replaced and second, there's a big question over financing of the new airframes. They still have to make those 6 or 7 380's we have profitable. And we're supposed to get 58 of them? Oh god....

Tim Clark said recently he sees the airline at about 160 airframes in 2015, we have ~125 now.
