Thanks. APC shows that ek has 747-F on order. Does that mean they plan to bring all cargo ops in-house?

There are other options with international schools that offer the IB program. Look at GEMS schools. They have a bunch of facilities around Dubai.

Last choice for an American is to go English. There are plenty of English schools, but the better ones will have waiting lists as well.

There is a fourth school that opened up last year. CAS - Collegiate American School (next to the Raffles school).

No one knows. There's currently two possibilities:

1) EK takes delivery and contracts them to someone else to fly

2) EK converts the orders into 777F's and flies them themselves

With the current state of the global cargo market and the price of Jet fuel I'd lean towards 2) right now.

I was hired in the beginning of 2011. Just hitting the 1 year mark here in Dubai.

If you have a VPN, you can have Netflix, Hulu plus, etc. Some of those online sites only work "in the USA", like Netflix. So with the VPN, if allows you to "appear" online in the states, and you can have Netflix. I use a Mac Mini next to my TV as my home theater base. It has an HDMI out, so goes right into my TV. If you ordered a VPN, then you should have gotten some download links in your email to get it installed. Then you just select the VPN location you want. I use the US when I need too, and some closer foreign countries when I don't. Sometimes I don't use it at all. Hope that helps a little bit.

Can't really add anything about the schools, as I am single and have no children.

Hey guys, I had a quick question about the application process. I applied a few weeks ago and it says my application is currently under review when I log on to the career site. Does that mean that I still have a chance? I know it is taking a while for people to get responses, but wanted to make sure I didn’t have any false hope. Thanks for the answers!

It just means that. A recruiter is looking at it, and the next step is getting shortlisted. When that happens you can expect a call for the interview within a few weeks.

Hope this helps?

Good luck!

As far as 747-8F or 777F, this order did not not get much attention as it was right after the big anouncement of 50 777's during the Dubai Air Show.

Has anyone that passed the compass tests and sim eval in Miami earlier this month receive a call to head out to Dubai yet? Any word on when the calls might go out?
