I just received an email today that Copa Airlines will be attending our next job fair in Atlanta on July 21st. I am sorry for the short notice. They are only hiring Captains at this time.

The hiring minimums are:

Age: 26 - 62. Minimum flight experience: 5,000 total flight hours and 1,000 total time in command of transport category turbofans (50 passengers or greater). ATP license. FAA ATP or ICAO license with at least an ICAO English level 4. Valid first class medical. Willing to relocate to Panama.

I was wondering what year 1 and 2 Capt pay is at COPA? Either per hour or month. I meet the requirements for a direct hire Capt. My wife and I are looking for alittle adventure and Panama sounds like fun to us as we have no kids. How does the pay compared to the average cost of goods in Panama? Are there any domiciles other then Panama City? Can an American with rudimentary Spanish get around Panama?

Thanks for your help!

While I was only an F/O there, I can help you a little with the pay scale. The Captains that were 15 on 15 off were making about $4,000.00 - $5,000.00 a month (Take home). The guys that were not 15 on 15 off were bringing home about $6,000.00 - $7,000.00. I found panama very expensive. I live in Houston now and I am paying the same rent here that I was paying for a smaller apartment there. I found it very expensive there. Feel free to pm me for more specifics.

I just received email from copa that they will be starting application process for FO's and they want me to send them my updated documents. I applied a year ago and had totally forgotten about it. Anyone else received this email?

CriticalMach, get your PM.

I got it too!! The email didn't have my name in it, but the attachments were real enough to convince me. Really curious if they sent it out to everyone who had applied or was it to selected individuals.

Do they verify all the employers and references before the next step??

I have decided to not proceed with the opportunity or shall I say it is really not an opportunity. You have to pay your own costs such as uniforms, license conversions etc etc. best of luck to all.

Well all the best to you either way. In fact this leave more chance for me, lol.

As for me, there is no better opportunity I can possibly get. At my airline, I already had to do that only to have some troubles later (won't post it on the forum, but I didn't fail anything). That was I wanted to talk to you about.

Do you mind telling me what your times are, and 121 experience if any? I am trying to see what kind of experience are they contacting.
