Default Foreign A320 Jobs

I'm currently flying the A320 with a SIC rating in South America. When I look at jobs in Asia, they all require a type rating. Does anyone know if a SIC rating is enough or do I need to upgrade my rating?

Thanks

Generally those types of jobs require a full type and some PIC time to boot.

I am pretty sure that Tianjin (as well as any of the Chinese carriers) will require you to have an ATP with the a320 type, as you will be converting you licence to a CAAC licence. Unfortunately, pic time on type is gold.

You need to research the Airbus job market more thoroughly. Contact contracting agencies, such as SIGMAR, Direct Personnel, PARC Aviation, to name a few, directly by phone or email. They have the latest information for first officer placements.

They also require that the ubiquitous VMC circling restriction be removed. If you're springing for the full type, make sure the training/checkride includes a "real" circling approach.

I agree with previous comments about a command type without any restrictions is a must, most CAA's in Asia don't even issue SIC types so they don't recognize them. I also agree that a type without hours on the hull will serve very little purpose but if you are committed to give it a try anyways, once you have the type throw your application with Air Asia Japan and Skymark, if you have a chance of getting hired without actual PIC times, those would be your best bet.

Good luck

I'll need to upgrade my rating from SIC to a full type rating. I called Parc and most FO positions require a full type rating. They don't recognize SIC ratings.

I called a couple of places in the states to do the upgrade rating and it seems to be in the range of 6000USD to 8000USD for a fast track course.

Flight Training International
Aerostar Training Services

I'm looking for a couple of more quotes and reviews to see which one to go with.

Thanks again ,

Do you at least have an ATP? Depending on that and your total hours and hours on airbus you could probably easily get a job with Etihad or Qatar or Air Arabia in the middle east.

I'll be doing it in June. My dilema is whether to do it in a fast place like ALL ATP or go for the A320 sim and convert my SIC rating into a full A320 rating and get the ATP at the same time.

I don't want to end up doing both seperate.

I checked Air Arabia and Eithad website. I meet the requirements and they don't say anything about having a full A320 rating. They just say to be current. Again, SIC ratings are not recognize in some places.

I e-mail them, but I doubt I'll get a reply.

Has the career path slowed or stopped at your company? Or in your country? Or are you trying to get the experience so as to get the left seat where you now work?
