Because 10 years ago "Memes" din't exist and victimization wasn't something as sought out as it is today. This is the crowd that loves to talk about patriarchal constructs etc.....Just roll your eyes and say whatever.

This whole 'American" thing is silly. Only US citizens are known worldwide as Americans, even in Venezuela where I was from. Everyone else who is not from the US get over it. You are Mexican, Guatemalan, Colombian, Venezuelan, etc.

I don't think I am actually interested in working here, but those that can shed some light that would be great.

1. Do they still hire FOs with a 1000 TT?
2. What is the pay rates like?

Any other pertinent info is great.

They do not hire foreigners anymore and even if they were don't go there for multiple reasons. They have their own flight school pumping out local pilots now. FO pay is about $4-4500 a month.

Default Pilot Green Card

This is a good option for those who want the green card.

So what's new at Copa!?. Anyone flying there at the moment willing to share their experience?. Pros/cons

Still at 1100h and trying to compare options. Waiting at my airline, hit 1500.and regional - vs- Copa.
Long term goal is a major, no doubt there.

You’re not competitive with COPA based on your hours and lack of time, let alone no type rating on the B737. That said, save your money and let the first airline you get hired with pay for your first type rating.

You’re better remaining at your current airline, build time, upgrade, get some PIC under the belt, and move on, while remaining in the U.S.

Because you’re NOT ‘American’ if you’re FROM South America, Mexico, or Canada.

If you’re from South America, then you’re a South American. Now I see ‘chip-on-the-shoulder’ issue with lots of Mexicans and other South Americans who take up the issue and want to be known as ‘Americans’. First, the convention is that we do not normally associate ourselves as belonging to a certain continent. Normally everyone is ‘from somewhere’ as if from a certain ‘country’; like, Sweden, Germany, etc.

I remember debating with my Mexican friend in college who was all up in arms and wanted to be ‘known’ and ‘accepted’ as American when he was actually living in the US as a foreign student. It was a sensitive issue for him. Over the years, I see that same thing with people of Mexican and South American origin. NO, YOU’RE NOT American.

Now, if you pay attention you’d notice that United Sates is a short term we use for United States of America. I won’t go in to a long lecture about historical, geographical, and cultural issues, but the United States are the unified ‘states’ of the then Continent of America that declared independence and became a country which happened to be located in North America. And the citizens, or people of the US, are commonly accepted, all over the world – perhaps not in Mexico or South America – as, well, ‘Americans’.

(Why is it that I have NEVER heard a Canadian tell me that they are ‘Americans’? Why is that only folks from Mexico or South America insist on being labeled as ‘American’?)

Happy to help!
